Awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Flinders University, Leonie later established Angus Clyne Australia P/L, a corporate apparel business. Leonie served as a member of the Vocational Education, Employment and Training Board (SA) and as a Member of the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) Board.
Leonie has been involved with and assisted the business community through her roles on many business advisory boards. A selection of her past appointments includes as a Member of the Small Business Advisory Council, SA; the Small Business Finance Advisory Panel of the Reserve Bank of Australia; and Chair, SA Wool Development Board.
Leonie served Flinders University as a Member of Council from 2002 to 2018 and as Deputy Chancellor from 2009 to 2016. She was a member of the Senior Staff Remuneration Committee, Awards Committee, Governance Committee, Strategic Resources Committee, Strategic Marketing Committee and Executive Committee. She also chaired the Boards of Flinders Campus Community Services and Flinders Consulting and was a Board Member of Flinders Partners; all University subsidiaries.
Numerous awards include Angus Clyne Australia’s listing in BRW’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Australian Companies, the Inaugural Enterprising Woman of the Year Award in 1997, and the Prime Minister’s Small Business of the Year Award in 1999.
In 2015 she was recognised with the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to tertiary and vocational education, and to business.
Leonie was a recipient of Flinders University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2006 and in 2021, the degree of Doctor of the University honoris causa.
Professor David Gilchrist
Dean and Member, Academic Board
Professor David Gilchrist has worked in and around the human services sector for 30 years. He is currently a professor of accounting at the University of Western Australia Business School where he is also foundation director of the UWA Centre for Public Value. David has held executive roles in, consulted to and been part of the governance team of various charitable human services organisations including in disability services, aged care and child protection. In all of these areas, David has contributed to policy and practice. Prior to joining the Academe, he was assistant auditor general for Western Australia and has taught at London School of Economics and Portsmouth University in the UK, and Curtin University and Edith Cowan University here in Australia. He was national associate dean of the business school at Notre Dame where he was also adjunct professor of Not-for-profit leadership.
David has researched in the areas of nonprofit sustainability, economics and governance and has written over 200 industry reports and papers focusing on key issues related to the sector. He has written, edited or contributed to ten books and is currently chair of Primary Focus Limited. David was co-founder and co-director of the NPO Research Unit at Hebei GEO University, People’s Republic of China where he is a visiting professor. David is also a visiting fellow at Queensland University of Technology’s School of Accountancy and visiting professor at Airlangga University in Surabaya, Indonesia. David was made a Fellow of the Parliament of Western Australia in 2021.
Professor David Grant

An internationally renowned scholar, David has worked in senior leadership roles at research-intensive universities in Australia and the UK. He is currently Professor of Management at UNSW Business School, where he is Academic Lead for a Project on Business and Climate Risk. He is also Senior Deputy Director of the UNSW Institute for Climate Risk and Response. Until April 2022 he was Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) at Griffith University, a position he held for over 6 years. He remains an Adjunct Professor with the Business School at Griffith. Previous to Griffith, he was Senior Deputy Dean at UNSW Business School and held several senior administrative roles at the University of Sydney Business School including Associate Dean (Undergraduate), Associate Dean (Research), Deputy Dean (Academic), and Co-Dean. He also served as Head of the Department of Management at King’s College, London.
David’s research and teaching experience focuses on leadership and organization-wide, group and individual level change. He has led or been a member of research teams that have attracted significant government and industry funding. These have included projects on business responses to climate change and the impact of technological change on work and organization. He has published in a range of top internationally peer-reviewed journals and has co-edited numerous edited collections and an award-winning Handbook. In recognition of his scholarly contributions, David was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia in 2008 and between 2019 and 2022 he was elected President of the Australian Business Deans Council, the peak body representing 39 Business Schools at Australian Universities. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Managers and Leaders, Australia and New Zealand.
Associate Professor Jeanne Marie Iorio

Associate Professor Jeanne Marie Iorio’s research, teaching, and writing focuses on disrupting and rethinking accepted educational practices in early childhood and higher education. This work includes rethinking quality as meaning-making; children’s relations with Place, more-than-human and materials; pedagogical documentation and research methods; and pedagogies originating from the municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Her research has been published in multiple journals and texts. She co-edits a book series Rethinking Higher Education and Qualitative Research Journal.
